Job Summary:
The Permit Specialist at Cargoboss Inc. is responsible for coordinating and obtaining permits required to transport oversized and overweight loads across state and provincial lines. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations by securing accurate permits and collaborating closely with dispatch, drivers, and external regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Permit Acquisition: Prepare, submit, and secure permits for oversized and overweight loads in a timely manner, ensuring accurate routing and state-specific regulations.
Regulation Compliance: Stay updated on transportation laws and regulations related to oversized loads in each region, including special restrictions, curfews, and escort requirements.
Route Planning: Review routes to ensure compliance with weight and height limits, bridge clearances, construction, and other factors that may impact safe transport.
Documentation: Maintain thorough records of permits, regulations, and approvals for all shipments; update permit and routing information as required.
Coordination: Work with dispatchers, drivers, and other departments to ensure seamless scheduling and timely adjustments for route changes, permit issues, or weather disruptions.
Customer Service: Communicate with clients regarding permit and transport updates, timelines, and potential challenges, ensuring excellent service and satisfaction.
Qualifications:
Upper intermediate level of English.
Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills; strong attention to detail; ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications or training in transportation or logistics is an advantage.
